Numerical analysis on the thermal performance of microchannel heat sinks with Al2O3 nanofluid and various fins

چکیده
• A single-phase three-dimensional flow model compares different finned microchannels. The fin shape has significant effects on microchannel heat transfer characteristics. zigzag gives the highest rate of removal to hydraulic power loss ratio. a 9 K lower contact temperature and 60% higher Nusselt number. Higher thermal performance is achieved with Al 2 O 3 nanofluid compared water. sink configurations for high electronic cooling applications investigated by numerical modelling. Conjugate simulations are obtained through silicon walls fluid domain square base prism traversed 50 parallel rectangular ducts, under 150 W/cm constant flux input base. coolant nanoparticle volume fraction ranging from 0 3% supplied at 298 K, over Reynolds number range 100 350, modelled as homogeneous medium. Rectangular, twisted, zig-zag fins inserted into plain duct enhance rate. provide best performance, 6.44 average heated wall temperature, number, 15% second law efficiency than without water cooling. Twist in unexpectedly reduced pressure drop 2% straight fin, possibly due more evenly distributed axial mass across microchannel.
